Smarsh Encryption Made Easier and Simpler for Your Clients
As mentioned on the December IPI Connect Call today, if your client's email vendor supports TLS encryption then your clients will no longer have to log into the Smarsh website to retrieve your email. You will still be required to put the word SECURE in brackets in the subject line: [SECURE] Most major email vendors support TLS. This link provides a general list of the TLS supported vendors: https://luxsci.com/blog/who-does-not-support-smtp-tls-for-secure-inbound-email-delivery.html. If your client's email provider does not support TLS then they will be directed to the Smarsh log in site as previously required.
This encryption will be for up to 25 MB of attachments. Therefore, if you need to send more than 25 MB then it is recommended to send a second email to the client with the remaining information. Remember - if your email or attachment being sent with the email includes a client's name + any personal identifiable information (SS#, Date of Birth, Account #, etc.), you must put [SECURE] in the subject line to protect your client's personal data.
Please know that Nick and I negotiated and worked it through with Smarsh to ensure there is not an additional charge for the upgraded encryption with Smarsh for you. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thanks, Renee
