Updated Written Supervisory Procedures for IPI
The latest version of Investment Planners, Inc.'s Written Supervisory Procedures ("WSP") has been published with an effective date of today - May 26, 2017. Most changes were nominal (spacing, FINRA Rule # changes). There were more significant changes for the sections related to 529 Plans, Active Trading, Variable Annuity Suitability - provides share class info / requires copy of statement for 1035 from prior contract and Consolidated Account Statements with assets not held through IPI. These items have been covered in prior Compliance Alerts over the past year.
For your convenience, a copy is placed on the IPI Advisor Site under the B-D section and then by scrolling to the bottom for Written Supervisory Procedures under Documents. You will have an attestation requirement for the WSP later this summer as part of the firm's Continuing Education requirements in our electronic Annual Compliance Questionnaire.
More information will be forthcoming on our IPI/IPI Wealth Continuing Education in mid-June when I return from vacation. However, we will keep the same vendor (Quest CE) and same time frame for completion (July and August completion - with a final due date of August 31, 2017) as well as the cost which will remain at $75 per advisor (Lori Kidd will be sending invoices in mid-June). Also, for those of you that take advantage of attending Amy Florian's session on "When Client Wealth Transfers to the Next Generation" at conference on June 8th, you will only complete 3 out of the 4 required Firm Element training courses along with the Annual Compliance Meeting and Annual Compliance Questionnaire.
Please keep a copy of the WSP on your desktop for ease of reference. If you have any questions on the WSP, please let me know. Thanks, Renee
